Top 5 Things You Need to Know Before Buying Rock Baby Clothes
There are a million things that supermoms (and dads) , like you, have to think about. But with this list, we’ll make it easier for you. So, before you feel tempted to buy thousands of tiny baby shoes, here are five practical tips. These are the five things you need to know before you rock your babies’ wardrobe!
1.Cotton comfort rocks!
Babies are delicate and so is their skin. Like you, babies do not sleep well in fabrics that are itchy or harmful to their skin. Choosing the right fabric is thus essential for a good night sleep. After all, a comfortable baby is a happy baby and a happy baby sleeps better, which means you do too. So, before you buy all kinds of outfits, make sure that your rock baby clothes are 100% cotton.
Unlike other fabrics, cotton is soft, non-allergic, absorbent and gentle on a baby’s skin. Whereas synthetic fabrics are treated with plenty of chemicals, cotton is organic. This means that cotton won’t cause any breakouts, rashes, allergies or eczema. This is why you should always buy 100% cotton and why doctors will always recommend you using cotton sheets for your baby.
2.Size up!
When people tell you, babies grow like trees, they are not joking. Babies grow each month about 1.5 to 2.5 cm (1/2 to 1 inch). That being said, some babies are even too big at birth for newborn clothes. Yet most new-moms only purchase 0-3 months clothing. But what if your baby is larger than that? Then, all the 0-3-month outfits will go to waste! The best way to avoid this is to invest in at least one or two bigger sizes. After all, a baby is much more likely to grow into a size, than be able to squeeze into it.
3.Rock the right season!
Do you know when your bundle of joy is going to be born? Then do the math and buy season-appropriate clothing. This saves you a ton of money and will help you select the appropriate layers that your child will need. If your due in December a pair of shorts won’t suffice. Neither will your baby be able to wear it. It is thus important to keep in mind, the seasons and your child’s age. That way you will never waste a cute pair of shorts!
Bonus tip: don’t forget to keep your newborn warm this winter. A good rule of thumb is to add one extra layer of clothing than you’re wearing. So, if you wear a t-shirt and sweater, give your baby a vest, sleepsuit, and cardigan.
4.Spend wisely
Babies love to sleep. And I mean they LOVE to sleep. Most newborns will sleep up to 18 hours per day! This means that your baby needs comfortable sleeping suits and onesies. Of course, you will want to buy many cute occasion outfits, but newborns will sleep most of the day. This means you'll be better off investing in many sleeping suits, a vest, and just one or two occasion outfits.
Bonus tip: buy many bibs. It’s impossible to have enough bibs. Babies drool constantly, you will go through dozens of them.
5.Have fun!
Before you know, your newborn will soon be a solid loaf, then a toddler and a teen. It may seem far away now, but time flies! So really take this time to enjoy this period in their lives. They really are only tiny and unable to protest being dress up like your favorite Rockstar this once. So, have fun! And buy that cool Nirvana baby onesie or Metallica Kids tee for your next baby/kids photoshoot.
